The Cure for the Christmas Crazies

by April Hartmann  (Author, Illustrator)
36 pages, paperback, 8.5" x 11"

Something strange is happening at the North Pole. Norbert the elf notices that everyone around him is going crazy with Christmas decorating, baking, and shopping. So he writes to the local expert, Santa Claus. How can Norbert help his family remember the true meaning of Christmas – the birth of Jesus – but still enjoy these fun family traditions?  Santa’s advice to Norbert is patient, loving, and full of Christian teachings. But things get even crazier as Christmas Day approaches. Will the true light of Christmas shine through all the craziness?

This story portrays Santa Claus with the same faithful heart and generous spirit of the original Saint Nicholas. Readers will hear stories about the three wise men, Martha and Mary, plus the biblical origins of our modern traditions like gift giving and decorating with lights. The playful artwork and silly expressions will capture the attention of even the littlest listeners.  Adults and kids alike will be on the lookout for the Christmas Crazies all season, creating a fun way to keep Christ in Christmas.

“Dear Santa, I know you get lots of letters asking for toys, but I need your help!”

Reader Reviews

My five year old son loves this book! The illustrations are outstanding and the wonderful message it brings to all of us, not just children is so important. We want Christmas to be a special time for our children but we can not forget that Jesus is the reason we celebrate. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to bring the Gospel message of Christmas to children.

During the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it is so easy to get wrapped up in all the decorating, shopping, and activities that consume our schedules. It can go by so quickly, we almost miss it. As a Mom, I want to make sure my family enjoys all the wonder of the Christmas season without missing the true reason for the season. "The Cure for the Christmas Crazies" is a beautifully written and illustrated book that uses Santa Claus to tell the story of the birth of Jesus. This is a book that will become a tradition in our home every year. I highly recommend this book for families with young children, church preschools, and Sunday school programs. This book will also make a great holiday gift!

This is a wonderful book - I highly recommend it! My four children (ages 8 to 16) all love the colorful pictures, and the characters are adorable. The message is about remembering the true meaning of Christmas, in addition to doing all the usual Christmas things that we do. The reader learns that it is okay to make cookies, go shopping, and even make a list for Santa, as long as the reason for doing these things is present as well. Children ages two to adult will love the story and characters, and understand the message.
This should book would make a great Christmas present, but would be even better as a "Black Friday" present. As our minds become pre-occupied with all the things we "have" to do to get ready for Christmas, our hearts become pre-occupied with keeping Christ in Christmas, too.
